Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital communications and the internet rnhas led to an increased need for robust encryption method to rnsecure sensitive information, especially in images. Encryption rnof sensitive images in this modern age of technology has rnbecome necessary for ensuring that such images sent via the rninsecure public network called the internet are protected from rnattacks. In this research work, a modified one-dimensional rnlogistic map for encrypting images is proposed and its rnproperties are investigated. The modified logistic map rnincorporates the hyperbolic cosine function cosh(x) to enhance rnthe complexity and versatility of the map, resulting in a broader rnrange of dynamic behaviours, including chaos, which was rnconfirmed through bifurcation analysis and Lyapunov exponent rncalculations. The proposed scheme was implemented and tested rnon standard grayscale images. The results of the experimental, rnstatistical analysis and key sensitivity tests show that the rnproposed scheme provides an efficient and secure way for realrntime image encryption and transmission. The performance rnevaluation using correlation coefficient analysis, histogram rnuniformity, confirmed that the encryption scheme successfully rnobscured the original image features and introduced strong rndiffusion and confusion properties, both of which are essential rnfor resisting statistical and differential attacks.
